Welcome to a new school year at Jeffersonville Country Day School. We have an exciting school year planned with many fun and enriching activities for everyone.
Beginning with this school year, we are excited to announce the implementation of a new curriculum called Mother Goose Time. This curriculum is a research-based early learning system that supports social-emotional, physical, and cognitive development. Each school day will be different and packed with exciting things to learn and do. The curriculum will be used for our toddler, 3-year-old preschool and our 4 yeaar-old/prekindergarten programs. Please let me know if you have any questions.
This month, we will be bringing back the Monarch Butterfly project. Starting with a caterpillar, we will be able to see the metamorphosis of the caterpillar into a chrysalis, then the butterfly. This is scheduled for Wednesday, September 4thth at 9:30am for Miss Amira’s and Ms. Yacono’s classrooms.
The Norristown Bookmobile will visit JCDS on Friday, September 6 from 10:00-10:30am. In October, the schedule will change to coming on the third Thursday of the month from 9:45am – 10:15am for Miss Amira’s and Ms. Yacono’s classes.
Our next four monthly Monday staff meetings are on September 9th, October 7th, November 25th, and December 16th. We will be closing at 5:30 PM on these days. Thank you for your understanding. Meeting dates are also on our website. The website address is: www.jeffersonvillecds.com.

With the start of the new school year brings several new families to JCDS. Please be aware of parents “piggy backing” into the school after you enter. Anyone authorized to enter JCDS will have a keytag. While it is polite to open a door for someone, do not do it unless you know the person. This is for the safety and security of everyone at JCDS.
We have several children enrolled at JCDS with food allergies. If not treated properly or promptly, the allergies can have serious ramifications. We have always had a policy within the school that children do not share food at lunchtime (or anytime for that matter) because of the potential for an allergic reaction to food. We are requesting that parents follow this same rule anytime they are in the school.
In the event that your child will not attend school or may arrive late, we would like parents to call us so our teachers can plan accordingly.
From time to time, some children like to bring in DVD’s to share with their classmates. Only those movies with a “G” rating will be shown at the school. Please check your child’s DVD before sending it to school to help avoid any disappointments.
While continuing in the Keystone STARS program, JCDS will begin evaluating what is involved in the National Association for the Education of Young Children (MAEYC) accreditation process. NAEYC is the largest nonprofit association in the United States representing early childhood education. They have established an accreditation system that sets professional standards for high quality programs for young children, ages birth through age eight. You can visit their website at www.naeyc.org for more information.
Please feel free to let us know of any questions or concerns you may have as we start this new school year.
