June 2021 Newsletter

Dear Parents,

As we come to the end of the school year, we would like to thank you for your patronage and support you have given throughout the past year. Our Mother Goose theme for this month is Habitats and Homes.

Public reports from the CDC have said that if you have been vaccinated for COVID-19, you no longer need to wear a face mask outside. Our licensing agencies, the Department of Human Services (DHS) and OCDEL have not updated their guidelines for childcare centers in regard to the new CDC statement.

JCDS will continue to follow our agencies guidelines with a little latitude for outside. Staff can have their face mask lowered while outside and remaining six feet social distancing from parents when speaking with them. Closer conversations will require face masks. Parents will need to continue to wear a face mask. Children should continue to come to school wearing their mask for inside and we will do our best for having them wear the mask inside the school.

We will be closing at 5:30PM on Monday, June 21st for our monthly staff meeting. Our next school holiday closing will be Monday, July 5th for the observance of Independence Day.

Our Jamboree Summer Program will begin on Monday, June 21st.  We have many special events coming to the school this summer. More information will be coming out in the next week or two. The children will be spending a considerable amount of time outside, thus a few reminders. Children should have sunscreen that parents have already used on their child to test for allergies. We also need a doctor’s prescription to apply the sunscreen. The prescription can read “apply sunscreen as needed”.

We will be having sprinkler fun, so please provide your child with a bathing suit and towel (name on both items) at the beginning of each week, and we will return both items at the end of the week. Sneakers must be worn on a daily basis. Please no sandals or flip-flops, as these choices in footwear are not the safest for running and playing outside and can inhibit your child’s ability to enjoy outdoor play.

If you have not notified us of your summer vacation plans at this point, please let us know the dates so we can plan accordingly. A Vacation Notification Form is attached for your convenience.

For all of you who are not joining us after June 18th, we wish you and your family a safe and fun summer. Happy Father’s Day (June 20th) to all our Dads!!!
