JCDS is planning to reopen on Monday, June 8th. With the COVID-19 crisis, caring for young children will be challenging to say the least. By following the guidelines set forth by the CDC and Dept. of Health of PA, we will take every precaution to ensure the health and safety of your child(ren). Many new procedures will be required by the JCDS staff as well as new procedures for parent and children to follow.
Here are some things parents will need to know as JCDS reopens. More detailed information will be forthcoming this week as we move forward.
The school hours will be from 8:00am to 5:00pm. Children cannot be dropped off after 9:00am. Children will need to have eaten breakfast before they arrive at school. Children will get dropped off at the back porch of the school. A temperature check will be made at that time. Parents will not be able to enter the school. Hand sanitizer will be used to wash hands before children enter the school.
Children should be screened for the following symptoms before coming to school: temperature of 100.4 F or greater (38 C or greater) should stay at home; Fever or chills; Cough; Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing; Fatigue; muscle or body ache; Headache; New loss of taste or smell; Sore throat; Congestion or runny nose; Nausea or vomiting; Diarrhea.
Staffing is listed below for our classrooms. Our goal is to have 2 staff with each group of children.
Our pretoddler class will be staffed by Dalynne Couser and Meg Petz. Our toddler class will be staffed by Jhanely Rojas-Rodriguez and Ashley Perry. Ms. Yacono and Miss Maryanne’s classes will be combining for the day. Miss Maryanne’s children will not have a naptime.
Our staff will always wear a mask/face shield except when outside. Staff will have a mask/face shield outside for speaking with parents at pickup. Children will have the option or wearing a mask or not. Parents will need to provide a mask for their child if they want their child to wear a mask. PPE supplies that JCDS has will be needed for our staff.
Lunches will need to be a picnic style lunch. We will be eating outside as much as possible and cannot microwave/heat any meals. We suggest having food in plastic baggies instead of Tupperware containers. (We cannot be cleaning containers when outside).
Parents will have the option of bringing in a crib sheets for naptime to cover your child’s rest mat. One light weight blanket will be allowed. No stuffed animals are permitted.
Parents will need to provide an extra change of clothing that should include footwear (ex. Slippers, sandals, flipflops in the event shoes get wet and can be wore).
We will spend as much time as possible outside. When parents’ pickup their child outside (if we are outside), parents must have a mask and practice social distancing. It is recommended that the same parent pickup and drop-off their child(ren).
Any sick child must be picked up within one hour of notification.
All emergency contact forms must be updated. Please visit the school’s website at www.jeffersonvillecds.com Go to the Enrollment Page, print out a copy, and return the completed form on your child’s first day of returning to school. You can also email as a scanned document.
Social distancing will be encouraged, but parents must understand that with young children, that will be exceedingly difficult.
These new policies are subject to change as we learn and improve upon caring for young children during this period. Any questions are welcome for clarification.
