June 2019 Newsletter

Dear Parents,                  

   As we come to the end of the school year, we would like to thank you for your patronage and support you have given throughout the past year. Ms. Yacono’s and the 3 year-old preschool class will have a monthly theme of Puddles and Ponds, while the toddlers and pretoddlers have themes about Family, Flag Day, and Father’s Day.

  Our Family Fun Day will be Saturday, June 15th (rain date is Sunday, June 16th). In addition to being an event for families, we are also using this day as a fundraising event. All families should have received an order form for wristbands ($10 fee) plus the Concession Order Form.  Tickets are now on sale for the event.   

        We will be closing at 5:30PM on Monday, June 17th for our monthly staff meeting. Our next school holiday closing will be Thursday, July 4th for the observance of Independence Day.

   During the months of June, July and August, the Norristown Bookmobile will come on Fridays from 10:00-10:30am for Miss Yacono’s class and the 3 year-old preschool class. 

Our Jamboree Summer Program will begin on Monday, June 17th.  We have many special events coming to the school this summer. More information will be coming out in the next week or two. The children will be spending a considerable amount of time outside, thus a few reminders. Children should have sunscreen that parents have already used on their child to test for allergies. We also need a doctor’s prescription to apply the sunscreen. The prescription can read “apply sunscreen as needed”. 

We will be having sprinkler fun, so please provide your child with a bathing suit and towel (name on both items) at the beginning of each week, and we will return both items at the end of the week. Sneakers must be worn on a daily basis. Please no sandals or flip-flops, as these choices in footwear are not the safest for running and playing outside and can inhibit your child’s ability to enjoy outdoor play.

   Our summer events kick off with one of our favorite performers, the Segal Puppet Theatre on Monday, June 17th at 3:00pm with Five Little Monkeys.  On Wednesday, June 26th at 9:30am, Hands on Science with Professor Bob will have a lesson on Flubber. Parents are welcome to join the audience on days we have performers. More details on our summer events will be forthcoming.   

        If you have not notified us of your summer vacation plans at this point, please let us know the dates so we can plan accordingly. A Vacation Notification Form is attached for your convenience. 

      For all of you who are not joining us after June 14th, we wish you and your family a safe and fun summer. Happy Father’s Day (June 16th) to all our Dads!!!
