Jeffersonville Country Day School (JCDS) is a private academic school serving Norristown and surrounding communities since 1989. This position requires a team player that can work with co-workers in handling all the daily responsibilities within the classroom.

The lead teacher’s responsibilities require (but are not limited to):

• Providing a safe and nurturing environment through constant supervision.

• Promote the social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth of each student.

• Create a warm, welcoming environment for children and parents.

• Maintain a fun, interactive classroom that is clean and organized.

• Develop age-appropriate, enriching, and enjoyable lesson plans and activities.

• Present a positive role model for children, along with being encouraging and supportive.

• Maintain a positive, friendly, and professional relationship with co-workers and parents.

• Diaper changing and toilet training.

Job Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years prior childcare experience with young children required.

• An AAS in ECE, CDA, or working towards an AAS, CDA, or BS degree in ECE/child development or related degree preferred**.

• Great opportunity for college students or students in education looking to gain more experience working with young children.

• Current hours are 8:00 – 5:00 Monday to Friday, with the ability to be flexible and have the willingness to work all shifts between the hours of 7:00 am to 6:00 pm.

• Candidates must be able to work with all ages of children, from infants to 5 years old

• Knowledge of the Keystone STARS program helpful.

• Bi-lingual in Spanish is also helpful.

PRESCHOOL TEACHER’S ASSISTANT

As our preschool teacher’s assistant you’ll be planning activities for children, such as storytelling or art projects. Instructing and supervising them in social and developmental activities, helping to feed and change them, and generally provide one-on-one attention when needed. You’ll also help organize the classroom and plan intellectual activities for children, per the lead teacher’s requests.

The duties of a preschool teacher’s assistant include supervision of children, interacting with children, preparing snacks, teaching children about numbers, colors and shapes, helping them get dressed and changing their diapers when needed. They also evaluate students’ social development and physical well-being. Preschool teacher’s assistants should be prepared to take on the role of lead teacher when needed.

PRETODDLER TEACHER

This position requires a team player that can work with co-workers in handling all the daily responsibilities within the classroom.

The lead teacher’s responsibilities require (but are not limited to):
• Providing a safe and nurturing environment through constant supervision;
• Greet toddlers and their parents warmly and with enthusiasm every day;
• Entertain and educate toddlers by reading to, playing with, and nurturing;
• Diaper changing and toilet training,
• Recording child observations,
• Arts & crafts, playing, and singing,
• Parent communications.
