Newsletter for December 2011

Dear Parent(s),

This month Textures and Fabrics looks at how fabrics provide texture to many things in our everyday lives and within nature.  Through this theme, the children will be immersed in nature and the nature of the sense of touch.

We will be closing at 5:30PM on Monday, December 5^th for our monthly staff meeting. All parents should have received a memo on our 2012 staff meeting dates. If you need a copy, please see Larry Brown.

We have scheduled our Christmas parties for Wednesday, December 14^th.  For children attending in the morning or all day, our activities will be held in the morning. Miss Alley’s afternoon class (12:15-2:45) will also have their party on Wednesday, December 14^th.   A guy named St. Nick may be visiting JCDS to join the fun.

As the winter season and colder weather approaches, we will go outside daily (weather permitting), so children will need to be dressed warmly for outdoor play. Children should have hats, gloves, or mittens to keep themselves warm. Please label all clothing with your child’s name.

During the cold winter months, you may feel the need to have your car running unattended while dropping off your child(ren). For the safety of all the children, please turn off your engine while parked in the parking lot. 

With the colder weather, cold and flu season begins. Please remember to have your child(ren) wash their hands when they arrive at school. Your assistance in doing this is greatly appreciated.

As a reminder, the school will be closed for our Winter Break from December 26 to December 30, 2011.  We will reopen on Monday, January 2, 2012. 

In closing, we would like to wish everyone a happy holiday season, and a healthy and prosperous New Year.

School pictures will be taken Wednesday, March 7, 2012.

The TBA date for the DVAEYC conference is May 11, 2012. JCDS will be closed that day.
